The Prairie Du Sac Dam
Prairie Du Sac, WI
The Prairie Du Sac Dam has been sitting on the Wisconsin River and providing power to neighboring communities for the last century. Built in 1911, the dam was constructed using more than 12,000 timber piles in sandy soils. The original timber pile foundation successfully supported the dam for more than a century, but as historic wetting and drying of piles caused deterioration as the tail waters receded.
The dam's owner, Alliant Energy, proactively initiated a program to investigate the severity of the situation and to develop a plan to remediate the foundation system supporting the dam to maintain its integrity.
Nicholson is working as the General Contractor at the dam, installing an intricate micropile and anchor solution to support the dam. Let's drill down into our work at Prairie Du Sac Dam!
